Masonic Home of VA Family Day Parade

Dear Residents, Family, and Staff,
We continue to hear about the COVID-19 virus and the impact the delta variant is
having across the world, nation and within our state. We continue to closely monitor the
impact this variant is having on those fully vaccinated especially those in our central
region or state. As previously shared, all residents and all eligible employees are fully
vaccinated. From the data being monitored, we are pleased that there remains far fewer
cases in our state for those fully vaccinated. Given this data coupled with the
vaccination status of our campus, we do not believe any change with infection control
protocols is necessary on our campus at this time. However, due to the high level of
positivity in Henrico County we continue to strongly encourage everyone to wear masks
while off campus in settings where exposure to those nonvaccinated exist.
We also continue to closely monitor the status of the approval of the booster shots.
Initially, we heard that boosters are recommended after eight months of the second dose
of Pfizer or Moderna for those of us living and working in the retirement communities.
However, this information has is still under the FDA and CDC’s independent
evaluations. While these boosters were expected to occur in late September, we are still
on hold at this time. Nevertheless, we have been in contact with Walgreen’s and they
will be prepared to administer the Pfizer booster once approved. Please stay tuned for
Additionally, you may be wondering how this continued virus activity may impact our
plans for Family Day. We are pleased to report that we have a plan that has been
approved by our Board of Governors and the Virginia Department of Health. While we
will welcome all friends and family on Masonic Family Day, we do plan to designate an
area exclusively for our vaccinated residents, family and staff. This area will be clearly
designated. Food will be served to our residents and vaccinated family members by our
staff and can be consumed with the vaccinated family at tables in that same area.
Separate portable bathroom facilities will be provided for our residents, family and staff.
Of course, residents have free access to their rooms throughout their day with their key
fobs. In an abundance of caution, no other visitation will be allowed in the Home on
Family Day including family members and friends who would normally be
permitted. Should our residents or family designated for this area decide to wander
outside the area to visit with a family or friend who may or may not be vaccinated, we
ask that they wear masks. We are delighted to welcome all friends and family to our
campus for this special event, we simply ask that those who have not previously
responded for this event with their proof of vaccination, remain outside the area
Lastly, we ask that all family and friends who plan to visit their loved one on Family
Day schedule in advance between normal business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, by
emailing email@example.com. This scheduling and monitoring are necessary to
insure the health and safety of our residents, staff and families. While our entrance to
our campus will be monitored that day, it will be open to all who plan to attend. Notices
will be provided with the program to our residents and upon entry regarding the
protocols for the day including the designated area.
Please know we will continue to keep you informed. Thank you for your continued
cooperation and understanding as we continue to work diligently to keep you, your
loved ones, and our staff as safe and healthy as possible. Should you have suggestions
on our processes or communication, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or
at ext. 77217. You will note that I have changed my signature on my correspondence
with you. I invite you to call me by my first name as the overwhelming majority of
residents and staff certainly do.
